Who is Ed Heath?

About Ed: I was born in 1954 and was raised outside of Philadelphia, PA in Delaware County. In 1988, I moved to Bivalve, Maryland to raise my 3 sons on our family farm. Unfortunately after 19 years of marriage, my wife wanted a divorce. However, that opened up the door to meet and marry the most wonderful woman in 2003, named Carla, who has 2 grown daughters. Also in 2003, I retired early from Amtrak after 28 years due to medical reasons. Plus I retired from a small marketing business I owned, and gave up being a small rancher where I raised meat goats and boarded horses. In 2007, my wife and I moved from my farm in Bivalve, MD to Heritage Shores in Bridgeville, Delaware to enjoy the retirement life. Then in 2019, we moved to Fruitland, Maryland to be closer to our kids.
My Hobbies and things I enjoy: I enjoy investing with Vanguard and I created a Facebook group called Friends of Vanguard, where I can talk Vanguard and investing all day! I love talking about personal finance and investing with anyone that wants to listen, and do that in several Facebook financial groups! I also enjoy discussing politics and how to solve all of the problems in America! Other enjoyments in my life are having my best friend as my companion, socializing, dining out, and being with my family.
My Political Views: I am a lifelong fiscal conservative/social moderate Republican that supports the Tea Party agenda of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and upholding the Constitution. Please note that the true Tea Party agenda does not include any social issues!
I feel upholding the Constitution and fiscal responsibility are the most important values of any elected official! They must support less government, less taxes, less entitlements, less government involvement, free enterprise, balanced budget, and above all they must uphold our Constitution!
Currently, I'm a disgruntled Republican who feels the Republican Party has currently lost their conservative value of being fiscally responsible and being Constitutionalists. In mostly all aspects of my life, I'm more conservative than most, but my social/moral views (see my issues) differ from the far right, making me a social moderate. I feel that as long as you are somewhere on the right of center, you are still a Republican if you are a fiscal conservative.
I feel the Republican Party needs to support fiscal conservatives, but never a fiscal moderate! The liberals have gone too far to the left (Marxist/Socialist), and the conservatives have gone too far to the right (Bible totters). The narrow-minded members of both parties have pushed the majority of the people to the middle as the registered Independents now exceeds both the Democrat and the Republican parties. People are just plain sick and tired of the corrupt two party system and the party bickering! Hopefully this is a wake up call for the Republicans to push the social issues to the back burner and put fiscal conservatism, small government, and the Constitution first. I'd like to see the Republican Party taken over by Tea Party/Patriots minded people and get rid of the RINOs! The Democrat Party can be for the Socialists/Progressives. I feel it is no longer "R" vs. "D", but Capitalists vs. Socialists, and will soon be Liberty vs. Tyranny if we don't change!
My Religious Views: I consider myself a monotheist with no organized religious ties. I feel I'm a honest, decent, and charitable person that only has to answer to himself and believe in my ideology of God (just as a Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, or Muslim has the right to believe in their ideology of God). I just don't buy into all of the man-made religious books, theories, rituals, and props. Please don't take me the wrong way, I admire people with religious conviction and they are usually very good and decent people, but organized religion just isn't for me. I believe that there is some form of a higher spiritual power or force of nature that works through the conscience of individuals. Do right and you act godly or good, do wrong and you act demonically or evil. It also acts as an inner voice to guide us and determine the choices we make. It is the choices and actions we make in life that define our character as a person and our direction in life!
"Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience." ~George Washington

“It is not because men's desires are strong that they act ill; it is because their consciences are weak.” – John Stuart Mill
