Thought for the day, plus some posts of interest!

An ugly week in the markets! The S&P is now in correction territory after closing yesterday -12.76% below it previous high close (see chart below)! However Friday's hammer style candlestick looks like it could be a bottoming sign, so we may get a pop up next week (I hope)! All we can do is have our proper allocation in place and ride through the storm. I made some portfolio changes this week taking advantage of pullback by selling all my Total Stock in my taxable account since the capital gains were less due to the pullback. I now just have 2 funds in my entire portfolio: I'm 58% Vanguard Wellington Fund Admiral Shares (VWENX) and 42% Vanguard Intermediate-Term Treasury Index Fund Admiral Shares (VSIGX) in all my accounts. This gives me about a 37% stock/ 63% bond allocation which matches my risk tolerance and also gives me more than enough income from dividends and capital gain to supplement my retirement without touching the principle!

The S&P closed lower this past week, but only after it put in a new intraday high of 3393.52 and new close of 3386.15 on Wednesday 2/19/20 (see chart below)! Just enjoy the ride, since nobody knows how long this bull market will last.
