Thought for the day, plus some posts on the Stock Market, Finance, Politics, and Life!
“Don’t be afraid of showing affection. Be warm and tender, thoughtful and affectionate. Men are more helped by sympathy than by service. Love is more than money, and a kind word will give more pleasure than a present.” ~ John Lubbock
Boy was I wrong last week thinking the market was going to pullback. We opened up Monday with a huge gap up and then gapped up some more on Tuesday. The upward move was good for my VTI that I bought the previous Thursday, which I sold on Tuesday for a +1.50% gain. All of my stock investments are looking good as they are from .52% to 2.29% from their highs. Even though the S&P is slightly pulling back as of Friday, I'm not going to make any predictions where we'll go next week. This is one crazy resilient market!
“We will discover the nature of our particular genius when we stop trying to conform to our own or other people’s models, learn to be ourselves, and allow our natural channel to open.” ~ Shakti Gawain
A good article about our current progressive tax system's downfall and how a fair tax would be better.
“Ships don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside you and weigh you down.” ~ Author Unknown
“Just be yourself. Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful, magical person you are.” ~ Mandy Hale
“You can’t control how other people receive your energy. Anything you do or say gets filtered through the lens of whatever they are going through at the moment, which is not about you. Just keep doing your thing with as much integrity and love as possible.” Nanea Hoffman
A good article about all of the choices that consumers have in mutual funds. Active managed and new mutual funds aren't really the best choices. Stick with proven index funds and low cost managed funds in my opinion!
A good article to read for everyone planning for retirement.
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than one’s fear.” ~ Ambrose Redmoon
